Club Orientation

Class registration is tomorrow!! Before then, the new students attended a club orientation. In Japan, the school year is different: It starts in April, instead. So we September students are actually the weird ones coming in in the middle of the year. And in the universities here, joining a club is a serious commitment; they expect you to be at practice every time ready to go. There are also circles for those who don't want to be super tied down by clubs or want to join more things because one or two clubs may be the most a student can join to be able to hold up academic studies as well. And so the club orientation explained to us the various different clubs and circles there are at the ICU campus. We were sitting inside the auditorium watching performances or slideshows of some of the clubs they have on campus! These include:
koto club
Karate!
- aviation club (they build airplanes... and fly them?) <-- that's what the slideshow makes it seem like!
- koto club <-- I am thinking about joining that! the kimono's are so cute!
- wadaiko club - Japanese taiko drum!
- smooth steppers - hip hop dance club, they are so かっこいい "cool". Everyone in the audience was rooting for them throughout their entire performance!
- musical club - I really wanted to do this, but then their performance is in February, so I won't be here anyways.
- ICU festival club - ICU has a big festival once a year in November for two days on a weekend ! and all the clubs do a performance or sell food!! and the best thing is that the day after the festival, a Monday, there is no school!! because it takes time for the staff and students to clean up the school after the festival so no school on that Monday. WOOHOOOO
Kendo!
musical club performing "Wicked's"
Welcome to Emerald City in Japanese!
- kendo club: Japanese sword
- karate club!
other clubs include: cycling club, lots and lots of tennis clubs, rugby, american football, volleyball, basketball, and many many more!
Cool band performing rock songs ^^

I wonder what I am going to join ~~~
