Exploring the districts: Harajuku (原宿) & Ueno (上野)

Today, I went to a really famous park in Tokyo called Ueno Park (上野公園), which is also the location of the famous zoo! I went there with my Japanese group because we are doing a Kanji project in which we have to take pictures of different kanji characters and then teach it to the class. Today, September 29th, is actually the start of this "Tokyo Green" Project because Tokyo is a candidate for the 2020 Olympics, so they have renovated selected parks in Tokyo into even more beautiful parks, and Ueno is one of them!! This is no ordinary park in that it just has trees and a little playground for children; it is filled with Shinto and Buddhist temples, art museums, contemporary museums. a concert hall, a zoo, even a lake where you can row boats... It's huge! My group walked around for 5 hours and we didn't even finish the entire park... That's how big it is, and if we were to explore every museum, a few days would be needed! There are also entertainers, street performers, food trucks, even farmer's markets!! Pictures will describe how pretty the park is :)

Even though you can find a peaceful, yet crowded, natural place to stay at in Ueno Park, you will never guess that the other side of the Ueno station is a busy, bustling city, especially at night! All the food stands are still available, lots of stores for shopping, and stores and stores for UFO catchers! You can get two different feels in one little section of the city! I will definitely come back soon for more exploration!!

Right when you get out of the station, there is a huge sign leading to the street called "Takeshita Dori" and it is a street filled with the latest fashion for a cheap-er price. Everything is really cute and it is so crowded at night time with young people! The crepes there are especially amazing :) !!
