Exploring the Districts: Roppongi (六本木) & Tokyo Tower (東京タワー)

Greetings from the spider statue outside of Mori Tower !! This is one of the landmarks in the Roppongi district, where back in the days was the location of all Westerners in Japan. Hmm. I don't really know what the significance of this spider is, but this is what Google says: that apparently its name is Maman, meaning mother. And in my picture you can't see really clearly, but you can see the spider carrying eggs if you stand directly underneath it! And below is another view of the 10ft long spider!
This would be the Mori Tower, a 54-story tall skyscraper part of Japan's project for urban development (Roppongi is a very Western-styled district)

And because Christmas is coming up, there were so many pretty decorations, like this one below:
And the streets were filled with suuuuuuuch pretty lights! Here's what was right across the street from where I was standing, a very high class Louis Vuitton store, sitting in the midst of Roppongi district, again reinforcing the concept of Westernization:

Here's a view from the Mori Building plaza area directly at Tokyo Tower, our next station!
Then, after about... a 15-20 minute walk, we finally get closer to Tokyo Tower. It is definitely an Eiffel Tower-inspired piece of architecture, and I think it's really pretty at night.
Gettinngggggg closer to our final destination!!

On the hill on the way to Tokyo Tower, there's a fancy-looking Japanese restaurant, wished we had stopped in and grabbed a bite !! (instead, as frugal study abroad college students, we ate inside the 4-story mall at the bottom of Tokyo Tower instead, at McDonalds - Oh it was yummmmmy, and some dessert ice cream!)

My first ever Ebi Burger in a Japanese McDonalds! Ebi = Shrimp. So it's basically a shrimp burger and mmmmmmmmm it was yummy, and look at that dessert ! Toooooo good! I guess it beats the fancy Japanese restaurant above and made my wallet happier :)
At the bottom of Tokyo Tower. It truly is beautiful! And you can see the many details of the structures!

Inside the mall and inside Tokyo Tower observatories, there were mini statues of itself! To the left, the pink one was for Valentine's Day and to the right is a mini statue of what the tower looks like during the day!

Oops, pictures out of order, but here's the inside of my Ebi Burger to make you drool :)
Inside the observatory, there was a screen that described the landscape of Tokyo across history, the following three pictures show how much Tokyo has changed through the Edo and Meiji time periods to present-day:

Inside the observatory, the city view at night was breathtaking:

I especially like this one!!

There were also ema sold inside the tower observatory. These are usually found inside temples, but its purpose is for wish-making. What you do is write down your wish on this plague of wood and hang it outside a temple! (There was a mini temple inside the observatory as well)

Outside walking back to the station, we saw Tokyo Tower changing colors!!

And then just one final glimpse at the elegant structure of Tokyo Tower just towering above my head :)
